Josh Jambon built Jambon Maritime Service LLC from the ground up, starting it as a small supplier of support vessels to oil and gas companies in the Gulf of Mexico, into an International firm.

“We have offices on all continents and have the capabilities of providing any type of vessels for the oil and gas industry,” he says. “We have a JV with a major brokerage firm that facilitates us to have our vessels work around the globe.”

A JV, or joint venture, refers to a temporary partnership such as the joint venture the company entered into in 2003, when Jambon of Nigeria established a join venture in that West African nation. As he knows, companies form these temporary partnership to gain mutual benefits, which are realized in several ways. They may share costs, risks, and the rewards at the end of the day. Joint venture partnerships may speed up the expansion of a business that is getting into new markets by gaining access to specialized skills, or just by getting a foothold in that new market. One partner in the joint venture, for example, may have a strong presence in the market that the other partner is trying to get into.

The key objective in a joint venture is growth, which is typically sought by both of the partners. And as Josh Jambon knows, it must provide clear benefits to both of the partners, as in those partnerships that have gained Jambon Maritime Service entry into Nigeria, Ghana, and Brazil, among others.

Josh Jambon is a veteran entrepreneur who says that he truly loves the competition he gets in business, and more than that he loves to win. He has started several businesses since he completed his college education in 1983, including Super-Valu Marine Supply that provided support to offshore oil and gas operations in the Gulf of Mexico. He also formed Jambon Boat Rentals, now known Jambon Marine Supply, LLC, and served as its President and Chief Executive Officer.

Starting a new business is a huge undertaking and it requires tremendous passion for the work. Part of the drive is his love of competition and business, as well building a profitable company from the ground up, and being his own boss. But entrepreneurs like him need to be able to deal with many obstacles that inevitably come their way. Building a new business does not happen overnight, and it takes a great deal of perseverance to keep at it in spite of the setbacks.

As Josh Jambon knew even before launching Jambon Maritime Service, entrepreneurship is not a nine-to-five job. Building the company to the successful enterprise that it is today took round-the-clock dedication and attention, and a great deal of resourcefulness. These necessary characteristics helped him to expand his business into an international, full service oil and gas vessel company.

“I truly love to win in the business,” Josh Jambon says. “Money is not what drives me, winning is. Along the way if I can help families achieve what they are looking for, I will bring them along.”

He recognized the increasing demand for offshore supply vessels within the Gulf of Mexico, and had enough insight and drive to form Jambon Boat Rentals to provide oil and gas companies operating there with the vessels they required. This is a key trait for any successful entrepreneur: recognizing a need, and meeting it. But as he knows from personal experience, it takes enormous amounts of time and effort to build a successful business; successful entrepreneurs such as he are known to put in eight to one hundred hours of work for years, in order to make their vision a success.

But it seldom seems like work, because like most successful entrepreneurs he believed in what he was doing, and that it was an important solution to a vital problem. Realizing that he was following his passion to solve that problem was enough to keep him going. Other entrepreneurs have burned through millions of dollars of their own money over many years in order to build a successful enterprise. This is much like what Josh Jambon did when he expanded the firm, now known as Jambon Marine Service, LLC, into an international company with offices and operations all over the world.
